2016/17

Sean completed the BioInnovate fellowship in mid-2017 and is now cofounder and CTO of Venari Medical, a medical device company established to focus on scientific research & development for better patient outcomes in venous disease. Having successfully gained Commercialisation Funding from Enterprise Ireland in 2017, the management team (comprised of Sean and his BioInnovate teammates Dr Nigel Phelan and Stephen Cox) are developing the world’s safest treatment for varicose veins. The novel solution is currently undergoing preclinical trials ahead of Series A fundraising in 2019 required for first-in-man clinical trials for EU & US regulatory approval. In terms of international recognition, Venari Medical was awarded first prize at the EIT Health Innovation Fellowship Alumni Showcase in 2017.
