Since graduating from the BioInnovate programme in May 2017, Paula successfully received Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation funding to pursue her unmet clinical need of vaginal atrophy, which is a chronic & progressive condition, suffered by vast numbers of women globally. Paula is the founder and Clinical & Commercial Lead for AVeta Medical, a company dedicated to creating a novel platform technology for vaginal health. AVeta Medical’s ambition is to offer breast cancer survivors and menopausal women an alternative to pharmaceutical products or hormone therapy.
The team is conducting preclinical trials on proof of concept & conducting market research with potential target groups to assist with end user design, acceptability of the device & interest in participating in future First In Woman (FIW) clinical trials. In autumn 2017, Paula participated in the EIT Health validation Lab in the Netherlands to further explore & validate the need, market potential & the business model in Europe as she targets Series A investment in the coming years towards market entry for her device.
The BioInnovate programme has awarded me with the knowledge, skills, mentoring, and network to pursue my passion to help deliver a meaningful, valuable medical solution to women wanting an alternative to current treatments.
