Brenda completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Limerick in 2016 and began her career with the Abbott on the graduate three-year Professional Development Program (PDP). While on this program Brenda rotated between three roles, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing supervision and Lean/ Six Sigma projects, at two of Abbott’s manufacturing sites in Ireland and one Abbott site in the Netherlands. Post completion of the graduate program Brenda joined the Abbott Vascular team in Clonmel with a focus on drug eluting stent (DES) products. She worked as a quality engineer for Research and Development (R&D) with a focus on product filing, validation and launch of recent Abbott DES products. During her time in quality engineering she also completed her Six Sigma Green Belt. Brenda has recently changed roles in Abbott Vascular Clonmel to an R&D Engineer where she is supporting the Research and Development efforts for Abbott’s next generation DES. Brenda is looking forward to the practical experience and clinical immersion as part of the Bioinnovate fellowship and concentrating on developing a pipeline of ideas to meet unmet clinical needs that provide better outcomes for our customers in cardiovascular intervention.
