Prateek holds a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pune, India. Beginning his career as an engineer in 2013, he has worked in a sheet metal tooling and plastic injection molding SME in India. During his Master’s, Prateek was working with the Procter and Gamble simulation group and was instrumental in conducting biomechanical simulations for their baby products range. Prateek also conducted simulations for traumatic brain injury research as a part of his Master’s degree. Upon graduation, Prateek worked with an SME operating in the ultrasonics space followed by a research internship at Thornton Tomasetti Life Sciences division at Cupertino. He also has experience working as a Production Engineer at a dermatology based medical device company based out of Los Angeles. After moving back to India in 2018, Prateek has been a core member of an ostomy based startup which was incepted from the Stanford India Biodesign Program. His contribution at this innovation based startup was instrumental in helping the project attain a Series A funding of more than USD 350k. His experience in this startup ignited his passion to innovate further in the medical device domain. Prateek is hopeful that the BioInnovate programme will provide an opportunity for him to leverage his technical expertise, in order to create novel healthcare solutions for improving the quality of life of patients. In his free time Prateek likes traveling and exploring new places, and enjoys surfing, hiking and swimming.
