Fiona King studied at National University Ireland, Galway and graduated with an honour’s degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2000 and a 1st class honour MSc in Technology Management in 2013. Fiona has worked for nearly 20 years in the medical device industry. During this time, she has worked with multi-nationals such as Stryker, Guidant and Medtronic and has gained experience and expertise in several product areas, orthopaedic accessories, heart valves, coronary devices such as stents / delivery systems and atrial fibrillation. She has worked in number of technical roles across product lifecycles and has extensive experience in several areas of new product development, manufacturing and commercial operations. She has extensive experience in process development and employing six sigma and lean methodology during process development is an area of interest for her. Other key skills which she has developed are in the areas of new product introduction, new technology introduction, regulatory submissions and technology transfers. She has continued to learn and upskill throughout her career and in addition to completing her MSc also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Engineering in Trinity College, Dublin in 2004 and in 2014 she became Certified Project Management Professional. Fiona is looking forward to being given the opportunity use her technical skill set to work as part of diverse interdisciplinary team to identify unmet clinical needs and to development these into viable products offerings which improve patients’ lives. In her leisure time Fiona enjoys singing in a choir, playing piano, reading and is a keen amateur cook.
