Graduating with a Batchelor of Manufacturing Engineering from DIT Bolton Street, Art started his career at NEC electronics where he enjoyed working in the fast-paced electronics environment. Seeking a new challenge and the opportunity to work in the life-sciences sector he moved to Boston Scientific in Galway in 2004 where he has fulfilled team and project lead roles in Operations, Process Development and R&D Engineering groups leading many key product developments and launches before progressing to the role of Senior Process Development Manager in the Process Development group in 2016, he subsequently fulfilled the role of Senior Engineering Manager with Edwards Lifesciences. He has extensive experience in the medical device field developing products from concept to commercialisation starting with Cardiology POBA and Stent Catheter products and then moving to Structural Heart products which he supported both in Ireland and California US where he spent 4yrs developing and commercialising next generation heart valves. In 2018 he completed his MBA at University of Limerick where he completed a thesis on understanding the impact of Agile on the innovation culture of a medical device organisation. He is greatly encouraged by the opportunity the BioInnovate program offers, working in a cross functional team to translate patient needs into a commercially viable product where he feels his experience and problem-solving abilities will be particularly suited. He has a keen interest in sport particularly GAA where he is Chairman of Kiladangan GAA Club, golf and cycling and is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that he will experience on the program.
