Gavin is a highly motivated and ambitious Honours Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering graduate with over 15 years’ experience working in the Engineering Industry, 10 years specialising in the medical device sector. He has gained experience working in medical device multinationals such as Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, Boston Scientific and Teleflex Medical. Gavin has experienced many roles in these companies from Technician level right up to Senior R&D Engineer. Gavin’s most recent role was a Senior R&D Engineer in an innovative start-up medical device company called CrannMed based here in Galway. Gavin has worked on medical device design within the following disease states: Intraosseous Vascular Access Systems, Tracheostomy, Urology and Neurovascular. Gavin have successfully lead teams in design and development projects and worked within multi-disciplinary teams bringing new products to market. Working with cross functional and cross site teams he understands the complexities of the team dynamic and stakeholder management. Gavin has gained lots of valuable experience visiting KOL’s worldwide to get feedback on designs and testing prototype devices in cadaver labs. Gavin is also a qualified Project Manager through PMI which has helped him manage his projects over the years. Gavin is very excited to have the opportunity to complete the BioInnovate Fellowship programme and be part of a diverse team, which identifies, understands, and develops a solution to an unmet need. Gavin was part of the Leitrim GAA Senior Football Team for 5 years which has helped him develop throughout his working career and he is also a qualified CrossFit® Level 1 Trainer. Gavin enjoys CrossFit, GAA, outdoor activities, and spending time with family.
