Shashwat obtained his medical degree at Grant Government Medical College & Sir JJ Group of Hospitals in Mumbai, India. In his formative years of practice and training he was involved in multiple projects with Harvard University (South Asia Institute). The projects focused on developing and implementing novel mobile health solutions for improving public health that received international recognition at the Rotary International Awards. Furthermore, he was actively involved in providing opportunities for innovation as part of the mHealth Toolbox team at the global convention of emergency medicine at South Africa. He pursued his drive for medical device innovation by completing his Masters of Biomedical Innovation and Development at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, U.S.A. Shashwat has worked on the R&D and commercialization of new medical devices in the space of urology, cardiology and orthopaedics. His multi-disciplinary skillset has enabled him to wear multiple hats in a team and work as a clinician, engineer, designer or project manager. He has experience in designing and developing computer aided 3D models, creating functional mechanical prototypes, conducting verification/validation testing, and constructing health-economic analyses. Outside of work he enjoys playing sports, mainly football and squash, and spending time with his guitar. He is looking forward to creating clinically feasible solutions for improving healthcare practices worldwide. He believes the BioInnovate program provides an ideal platform for connecting with like-minded individuals and the resources and environment conducive to healthcare innovation.
