Christina Kenny
Breast and Adrenal Surgery Team

Christina originally graduated from UCD in 2014 with a BSc in Science, specialising in Microbiology. She then went on to work in Microbiological research at Queens University Belfast for two years. Her research was respiratory focused and examined antibiotic resistance of Cystic Fibrosis pathogens and the antimicrobial mechanisms of bacteriophages in Cystic Fibrosis. After this she returned to UCD and graduated from Smurfit Graduate Business School in 2018 to complete her master's in biotechnology and Business. As part of her thesis, she acted as a business consultant for Phision Therapeutics, a UCD spin-out with a novel drug for treatment for Age-Related Macular Degeneration. During this time Christina took part in an entrepreneurship program run by Nova UCD in which she designed, developed and validated an app for use in the remote management and monitoring of chronic disease. In order to do this, she worked alongside industry leaders and experts. Christina then went on to enrol in a PhD program at Technological University Dublin where she is currently studying virtual healthcare interventions in chronic disease care. Alongside this she worked for patientMpower, a leading digital healthcare company who focus on empowering patients by providing them with remote monitoring solutions. During all of the aforementioned roles Christina was equipped with the business acumen as well as the industry exposure to know exactly what she wanted to do next. She took her combined passion for clinical research and enthusiasm for medical device innovation and decided Bioinnovate was the perfect next step. When Christina isn’t immersed in work she enjoys yin yoga, Pilates and torturous spin classes. She typically spends her weekends hiking with her dogs and undoing all that exercise by baking!
