An advocate of lifelong learning and development, Aaron McCormack graduated from the National Diploma Tool Design programme in IT Sligo in 2004 and subsequently worked as a special purpose machine designer with Megadale Ltd, providing CE compliant manufacturing automation solutions to medical device, cosmetics and food industries. He proceeded to graduate from Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering (Biomedical) in 2008 and embarked on setting up, developing and managing a design department within Galway based machining company Dawnlough Engineering, that complements their core busines to provide a contract design service that includes product design and manufacturing equipment solutions for their MedTech, pharmaceutical and aerospace clients. He has 15 years’ collective experience as an Engineering Manager collaborating with cross-organisational teams both as a team member and team leader in the medical device sector, and in 2016 he graduated from National University of Ireland Galway with an MSc in Enterprise Systems. In addition to being a hands-on proficient CAD designer with extensive experience in design for manufacturability and assembly, he delivers essential design resources for prominent global MedTech companies that range from R&D design support to manufacturing process equipment design and development. He provides mechanical design support to many start-ups product design and testing and affords engineering provision to the sales, production and quality departments within Dawnlough Engineering Ltd. Aaron enjoys reading, camping, DIY furniture design and playing board games with his family. He is thrilled to embark on the BioInnovate Fellowship Program and looks forward to working with a skilled team of high level professionals on developing innovative ideas that will achieve viable solutions for unmet clinical needs.
