Susanne graduated from UCD Medicine in 2011. She went on to complete her basic internal medicine training at St Vincent’s University Hospital, during which time she qualified as a member of Royal College of Physicians Ireland, and was accepted on to the higher specialist training scheme in gastroenterology in 2014. She also undertook an MSc in Immediate Care, which first sparked her interest in product development, and made her aware of the many unmet needs in every area of healthcare.
After a year in the National Liver Transplant Unit, and a year focused on inflammatory bowel disease, Susanne was awarded a Newman Fellowship through UCD, sponsored by Boston Scientific, to support her completion of a Doctorate of Medicine, which she submitted in September 2018.
It was during this time that she began teaching GI tract anatomy and physiology to Boston Scientific engineers, and her passion, for development of new products that would make the patient’s journey easier, began to grow. She is excited about the potential products and projects that are coming from BioInnovate Ireland and looking forward to the future of healthcare!
