Nahla Alamin is a medical doctor with more than seven years of clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Following her graduation from Ahfad University for Women in 2004 with an MBBS degree she completed her internship as a Junior Doctor. She was a Senior House Officer in Obstetrics at Omdurman Military Hospital for one year during which she started her specialisation exam. In 2008 she moved to Qatar where she joined the Arab Board Residency training Programme in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Hamad Medical Corporation – Women’s Hospital. This included training in gynaecological oncology, fetal maternal medicine, infertility and assisted reproduction and ultrasound. The training was completed in 2014 after which she joined the same organisation as a specialist. Nahla is looking forward to joining the BioInnovate programme to experience a different way of dealing with and helping the patient through designing a new product rather than the front line direct doctor to patient approach. She sees the programme as a great opportunity to be part of an expert multidisciplinary team contributing to and implementing the invention steps from concept stage to generation of a new solution to improve patient outcomes. She hopes the Programme will further enhance her development and progression at both a personal and career level.
