Jason is an NUI Galway alumni having completed his studies there in Mechanical Engineering in 2009. Jason’s first exposure to Medical Devices was in a role with Medtronic as a Quality Engineer. His interest in device design and innovation resulted in him seeking out Research and Development roles in Galway’s burgeoning start-up sector almost immediately. In 2011 he secured an R&D position in Neuravi Ltd. and worked extensively prototyping and bench testing numerous prototype embolus removal devices for treatment of ischaemic stroke. In a subsequent role with Veryan Medical Ltd. he worked on the now CE marked and commercially available BioMimics 3D stent which treats individuals suffering from peripheral arterial disease of the femoropopliteal artery. Jason is named inventor on a number of patents in the neurovascular space. Jason was attracted to BioInnovate by the unique level of access to clinicians and clinical settings, the chance to learn a proven method for innovation commercialisation and the chance to make a positive impact on the health landscape. In his spare time Jason enjoys playing soccer, 3D printing and Snowboarding and is keenly interested in new technologies like bitcoin.
