Tim has a BEng in Materials Engineering from Loughborough University and a BSc in Medical Device Innovation from DIT. Having cut his teeth in product design development as managing director of a start up in the UK, taking a product from initial sketch to commercialisation, he has spent the last 5 years working in Research and Development in Medtronic Cardiovascular in Galway. During this time, Tim has worked on a number of early phase development projects across structural heart, coronary and cardiac rhythm disease management. Working with cross functional and cross site teams he understands the complexities of the team dynamic and stakeholder management. He has been involved in new technology, cost saving and commercial products. Working on cutting edge micromould technologies for prototyping designs he has an eye for detail and understands the impact of the quality and complexity of manufacturing technologies within the medtech space. With a keen interest in additive technologies and the impact they have on the speed of product development, Tim continues to look for ways to efficiently accelerate the product development cycle. Having first looked at the BioInnovate program in 2012 Tim is excited to start working with a multidisciplinary team to learn from others and create something to benefit the medical industry. Outside of his professional life Tim has been heavily involved in the promotion of STEM in the west of Ireland over the past number of years and has led up a number of activities within schools and exhibitions in Galway County. He’s a keen football and squash player and freedives to unwind.
