Sinéad graduated from Cork Institute of Technology with a degree in Chemical and Process Engineering in 2003. Sinéad began her career working in the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacturing field, supporting day to day activities on a production rig. This applied role provided practical experience in direct technical problem solving and managing continuous improvement opportunities. In order to further pursue her interest in Research and Development, Sinéad returned to college to study Pharmacy at University College Cork, and subsequently completed a Master’s in Pharmacy at the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin. Sinéad has spent the last 10 years working within the BioPharmaceutical Industry in a variety of roles, broadening and deepening her skillset. Having spent time as a Quality Specialist ensuring compliance with internal and external governing bodies, Sinéad transitioned to an Equipment Design Engineer for New Product Introduction. Building on this design work, she led teams responsible for the commissioning and qualification of Sterile Process Equipment, GMP Utilities and Laboratory Equipment to meet all current regulatory standards. During this time, she has also continued to work as a Locum Pharmacist and has kept up to date on contemporary medical technology and practice. BioInnovate represents a fantastic opportunity to combine her experiences to date into solving therapeutic problems. Sinéad is excited to embark on the BioInnovate Fellowship Program and develop an applied research agenda focussed on the development of innovative technologies and solutions to create viable medical devices for unmet clinical needs.
