Irial was most recently a Senior Product Manager with IBM. Irial has over 20 years’ experience leading the delivery of software to enterprise customers across multiple industries (including Telecommunications, Financial Services and Insurance). He has a significant record of contribution and success in multi-national, startup and consultancy environments - in a mix of technical and management roles. Irial’s interest in medical technology was sparked by a precision healthcare keynote at a local software conference and boosted by attending Connected Health and MedTech meetups, as well as conversations with BioInnovate Alumni. He is eager to further the potential for digital technologies in the healthcare sector, harnessing his years of experience and expertise to uncover future synergies.Irial studied Electronic Engineering at University College Galway. He was awarded an undergraduate scholarship for his final year by the Institute of Engineers Ireland (Electrical & Electronic division) and graduated with first class honours. His early career included Software Engineering roles with Nortel, Lucent Technologies, Sigma Softlabs, Am-Beo and AmDocs – taking him to many countries. He worked as a Software Architect with Kainos (a leading IT consultancy), before joining IBM at its Galway lab. At IBM he held several leadership roles, gaining wide experience – from engaging with customers at Design stage, through Release Management of large product releases, driving Go-To-Market activities with Marketing & Sales, to supporting solutions in production. Irial holds an ACCA Diploma in Financial Management, as well as multiple software programming certifications. In his spare time Irial enjoys coaching Gaelic football and basketball, as well as caravanning with his family. Irial is relishing the opportunity to be part of a co-located, cross-functional and ambitious team seeking to make change happen.
